Car hire in Brindisi Airport

The Brindisi, or Brindisi-Salento airport, is located in southern Italy, in Casale, which is about 2 miles (3 km) from Brindisi. Over 2 million passengers pass through on an annual basis, with nine airlines utilizing the two runways at the location. Some of the destinations served by the airlines based out of the location are offered on a seasonal basis, so it is important for travelers to ensure their desired location is available during the time of travel.

Access to the airport can be made via trains, buses, transfers, taxi, and private vehicle. If arriving by personal vehicle, there are three car parks available on the site. Ranging from short-stay located in P1 (which has about 30 parking spaces), medium- to long-term parking located in P2 (with a capacity of 462), and long-stay parking if passengers will be on holiday for longer periods of time (with a capacity of 143). All parking areas are within walking distance of the terminal.

If Brindisi is your destination, there are seven car hire companies located on the site, including Hertz, Avis, Europcar, and Sixt. Choices of vehicles offered include the standard compact, intermediate, standard, and full-size vehicles, with some car rental companies offering premium and luxury choices as well.

The age requirements may vary depending on the company and the vehicle, with Europcar stating that the minimum driver age for rental is 25 years. However, Sixt requires the driver to be at least 21 years of age and have had their license for at least one year. Avis requires drivers to have a clean driving license to be held for at least 36 months and be from the driver’s country of residence. Most car hire companies require a Young Driver Surcharge for drivers under the age of 25 years. Due to the vast variations regarding the age and license duration requirements, it is strongly suggested that customers check with their individual car hire provider during the time of booking to ensure there are no travel problems.

If travel plans include crossing over the border, there are several conditions that have to be met in order to make such travel possible. If drivers intend to cross into certain countries (Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland or Slovakia), certain restrictions on car groups apply. Additionally, the use of car ferries to Sardinia is prohibited, but with advance written authorization, drivers can use car ferries to other destinations.

When making reservations, often travelers can find deeply discounted rental car rates on the internet. During this time, renters can add an additional driver or extras to make their trip more comfortable, including a baby seat, snow chains, ski rack, winter tires, and even a satellite navigation system to make discovering Brindisi more enjoyable.
