Rental Cars at Beauvais Airport

The Beauvais-Tille airport, sometimes referred to as the Paris-Beauvais airport by a few airlines, is located in Beauvais, France. Built in the 1930s, the facility has had an interesting past, and has undergone many renovations in order to keep up with the nearly 4 million visitors per year. Used as a military base under German occupation during the 1940s, it now a modern civil airport with a few reminders of it being a wartime runway, including several bomb craters. Currently, there are seven airlines offering services to a variety of destinations. However, some destinations are offered on a seasonal basis, so passengers should check with their individual carriers to ensure arrival at their desired destination.

Access to the airport can be made by taxi, minibus, shuttles, railway, and private vehicle. If arriving by personal vehicle, there is parking available on site, offering over 2,900 parking spaces, so booking in advance is not necessary. There are three car parks on site, offering options ranging from short- to long-term. All the car parks are on grassy fields, so it may be a bit muddy during the rainy months. The car parks are not manned, but are monitored by video cameras, so it is suggested that travelers take any valuables out of their vehicle or place them out of plain view.

If Beauvais or the surrounding area is the destination, there are a number of car hire companies available on the site, including Alamo, Budget, Europcar, and Auto Europe. The car hire buildings are conveniently located near the terminal exit. Customers can choose from a large variety of vehicles, ranging from mini and compact, to convertibles and mini buses, guaranteeing a vehicle to fit the needs of just about any traveler. When making reservations, customers can request transmission type, useful for those most familiar with automatic transmissions. Some companies even offer chauffeur service, allowing travelers to relax and have someone else drive them to their destination.

Many car rental companies require drivers to be at least 18 years of age, with those between the ages of 18-24 subject to a Young Drivers Surcharge. Often the age requirement varies depending on the class of vehicle and the individual car rental company, as some require a driver to be at least 21 years of age.

When making reservations, customers can request additional amenities to make their holiday more enjoyable, including child seats, satellite navigation equipment, and additional insurance coverage. The availability of satellite navigation equipment varies depending on car rental company, so if it is a desired piece of equipment, customers should seek out the companies that offer such amenities. If traveling during the winter months, some car rental companies also offer snow chains at an additional charge, upon request.
